Adriatic Sea sponges are a naturally renewable resource. They grow right back after harvest from the little tissue particles that fall on the seabed. The sponges are handpicked one by one, by skilled sponge divers. The skills of sponge diving are kept as a family tradition and the localities of the sponges are carried over from generation to generation of divers. The awareness of responsible sponge picking among Croatian divers has enabled this tradition to stand for hundreds of years.
The sponges are animals which feed on microscopic organic debris, filtering the sea and keeping it clean. Our sea sponges are harvested on the clean and unpolluted Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea. All our sea sponges are harvested in the Eastern coastline of the Adriatic Sea.
